We had an older JennAir electrical cooktop with downdraft; We bought this gas cooktop to replace. The installation professionals were able to use the existing piping / duct from the previous downdraft installation. Each cooktop comes with it's own downdraft fan; the outlet from the fan was connected to the same piping. In that sense - the fan system changes, the ducts don't need to change.
