You never mentioned anything about your computer. Graphics, and video programs are usually pretty power hungry applications. Although minimum requirements are a guide, the better the CPU, graphics, and ram, the less likely you are to experience issues. Best Buy has some remarkably good deals on powerful computers, especially this time of year. May be worth a look.
