You're looking for the RGB version that listed for $169.99 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-k70-rgb-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-black/9496231.p?id=1219418202563&skuId=9496231
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They stay on as long as you have set them that way. You do not have to hit any key to turn the lights on. However, you do have a button to turn them off or turn only a few keys that you want on. Once you set it, it maintains the setting so when you start the computer, it remembers it right at the boot time. The keyboard itself has the technology to remember
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The K70 is programmable. You select the pattern of lights (and key reassignments you want), then save them. The K70 is typical of all Corsair mechanical keyboards as far as I know. Out of the box there's no flashing, or reassignment of keys. You "program" it to do otherwise, then save it as a file to be used whenever you choose. I don't recall how many, but the number you can have is lots. Once you save it, you can make it start automatically, or anything else you decide. I haven't experimented with it, so I'll have to rely on others for information. Go online to get some ideas of what this will do for you. These aren't cheap keyboards; they should last forever - well, almost. I personally got tired of having to replace $20 keyboards every year or two, and decided to buy something more substantial. Decide what features you want - characteristics of the switches - silent, clickity, tactile, smooth, etc. Also, if you choose the RGB version that adds multiple colors to the list. Go to the Cherry site and see what's available. They have about a half-dozen kinds of switches. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This keyboard in particular doesn't do the rainbow. The back light is only red. You're looking for the one linked with this answer. I don't know about the rainbow function, but at least I can point you towards the right product.
