A:AnswerIt is not the ram that is either dual or quad, it is your computers cpu that determines how much & how fast you can transfer info from your ram to cpu. DDR-DDR2-DDR3 are all dual channel, DDR4 will run in either dual or quad. It is an upgrade from earlier versions of ram, I hope this helps.
A:AnswerGenerally, If you have an extra ram slot, any ram stick with work in your PC. But your computer is going to run your sticks based on the slowest speed of the two and you will be giving up on dual channel mode. It's usually best to have the same make and model, frequency and all, in your system. That said, once again, if you don't care about performance it'll work. Eventually you can just buy another of the same stick down the road to replace the one that came with your system.
A:AnswerIt should as long as you are running 2400 sdram - I was a little worried about mine going into a HP, but it works just dandy. And for the price you can't beat it.
A:AnswerHi Zic,
Please consult with your specific motherboard's manual for more information, or reach out to us with that info and we can assist further: support.corsair.com
A:AnswerHi Leesa,
If the memory is the problem and you just need to replace it then from what I'm finding out online you'd need DDR2 (which this kit isn't). I'd suggest contacting Dell for further assistance, or you can also reach out to us: support.corsair.com
A:AnswerHi,
I'm afraid we don't release that information, it's variable depending on the frequency and it's a very minimal amount of power that is used. Rest assured that any capable PSU in any compatible system wouldn't even need to account for the power usage of memory as it's extremely low. If you do have further questions please reach out to us at support.corsair.com
A:AnswerIf this kit meets the requirements for it it should but may not play well together with what you already have inside so I'd recommend using this kit by itself if that becomes an issue.
A:AnswerYes, the OptiPlex 7040 MT has 4 slots of DDR available and come with two 4gb sticks of ram. SO there should be two slots available if it has not already been upgraded. You could also replace a 4gb stick if has.
A:AnswerYes, however it appears this only has two dim slots and they may be used, can only use up to 8gb module and a max of 16gb. If it has two 4gb modules then they can be replaced with this product.
