“Isn't this supposed to be the 7.1 surround sound model? The item specs and title say stereo on the Best Buy site, but CA-9011201-NA is described as surround sound on the Corsair website.”

They do offer 7.1 surround sound

As you did I went directly to the Corsair site and they are indeed 7.1 just no option to turn that on or off like some other sets I've seen. Great headphone tho. Well worth retail value.
