It will with a : sata to usb-c adapter

The MX500 should work as an external drive, assuming you are using a compatible SSD enclosure. Please keep in mind that you will not experience peak performance when connected externally (via USB). A 'hub' may also present compatibility/performance degradation issues.

The drive could definitely be formatted to any supported macOS format; exFAT, macOS Extended and APFS. However you’d need to get this inside an external enclosure to have it connect via USB-C.
