- Answer yes, 4 caps filter can be used, but I do not recommend it, there is a filter design for this coffee makers.

- Answer The decanter is. The tray for the coffee filter and coffee comes off so that would be too. Hope this helps!

QuestionThis coffee maker is less than a week old. Yet, there is something rattling around in the carafe. It sounds like a coin, but I know it can't be. Has anyone else had this problem? Can I still make coffee using this carafe?

- Answer I'm answering my own question. The "coin-like rattling sound" was caused by a simple but durable plastic measuring spoon. I find it very handy and it fits perfectly into my Le Creuset ceramic coffee storage container. Three level spoons of finely-ground coffee are plenty to make an entire four-cup pot.
