“can I attach my external antenna? I currently have a model DIR-615 D-link router with a DWL-M60AT external antenna screwed onto the threaded fitting where one of the on board antennas attaches. Will I be able to use this external antenna with this AC3200 router?”

No not really. The Dlink AC 3200 dose not have any points where you may be able to connect any antenna. The unit does come with 6 antennas that can be positioned based on your environment.
