“recording does this record? do I have to connect to Ethernet/Wi-Fi/ or computer or phone? I want something that records only when movement is detected and that I can review later. snapshots are sufficient I also want this to either be outside and transmit via wireless to device inside or be able to detect and record through the window”

They have a program on their web site that you can download that allows you to record to that computer using whatever parameters you tell it. Easy to set up, just make sure you write down the user name and password you set the camera up with. You can view live thru a smartphone or iPad from anywhere. You need a wireless network to run the camera, or you can hook it up via Ethernet.
