Yes, it will send you an email alert, and a snapshot (not live video) if you have set this up during install. However, I have found this to become somewhat of a nuisance as I have had trouble with motion being overly sensitive. Too many alerts!

It does send and email when motion is detected but all the emails I received were false alarms so this aspect of the unit is worthless. Usually get a false alarm everyday, used it in a store with locked and gated doors.
