Please try again later.The D-Link 5020L uses WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK security for connection to the router, so it should be secure as long as you change the default password to something more complex (and perhaps the default user name, too). Using it in the home as a security or webcam should cause minimal exposure to the outside world. Making the camera remotely accessible over the internet exposes the camera to potential hackers, and as we know, nothing is absolutely safe from hackers. Just uploading images to a website is much less risky.

And remember that many manufacturers require you to register your cameras on their company web sites, and will store some or all of the video, depending on how much storage you are given. Then your videos belong to, or at least are accessible to, the company, depending on what the fine print says.
