Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't think it is safe for the rain. Belkin makes one I believe that specifically is made for outdoor use.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have read that people have used this as an outdoor camera by building an enclosure for it, but as sold it is an indoor cam. I have mine pointing out a window and it works great, but I do have to worry about reflections in the window glass (I drop the blinds behind it at night, and I've had to tape over the IR lamps with electrical tape to avoid them reflecting in the glass. There is no way to turn off the IR lights when in the night vision mode. But to tell the truth, night mode doesn't create a much brighter image at night than day mode without the IR lights on. I may mount some IR lights in the yard outside the window at some point.

The first is mounted outdoors under the ceiling of a deep porch, well out of the way of the direct weather. It has been okay for about a year. I mounted two more in cheap, plastic, Chinese-made plastic dome housings that are hung from under the eaves of my vacation house at the ocean. Thus, they are quite well protected from the direct weather. So far, they have been operating well through several nor'easters, a snowy day, and temperatures into the teens. Also, I had to modify them to fit them into the housings. One thing I am certain of, however, is that they are NOT suitable for direct exposure to the weather elements.
