I don't think you will need to adjust water temperature, unless your thermostat is set really low. Run the tap till the water gets really hot. Then connect the dishwasher. The unit has a built in heater that heats the water to about 150 degrees. That's the hottest it will get. It is enough to get dishes clean, although you may need to rinse the larger chunks of food off dishes before loading. Hope that helps.
