QuestionHow wide can a window be for uncomplicated installatiion ? (without buying additional accessories) Are expanding sides made of plastic or metal ?

- Answer Our window is around 30 inches inside the glass, and the unit had plenty of space around it. The expanding sides are all plastic, which will after time deteriorate with sun exposure.
