So as soon as a pixel on the camera changes it will begin to record the movement. The camera does pick up sound and it will record the audio with the video footage. The SD card that comes with the camera is a 16 GB, which is approximately 1-3 days of continuous and 3-5 in motion detection. The camera will allow for up to a 128 GB SD card to be used, which would allow for longer recordings.
