The laptop supports up to 16 GB of RAM officially. It comes with 16GB installed and the memory is not soldered. It uses one DDR4 SO-DIMM slot. We apologize for any confusion.

'Official" is what Dell promises and guarantees (i.e., failure to reach this number would be a legitimate reason for a return and full refund at the least, and legally actionable instance at the extreme). while "practical" is what others (including companies that specialize in selling RAM) have extensively tested and will PROBABLY (99%) work.
