The 4K monitor could be used with the HDMI 2.1 port or the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with Display Port. Dell has not tested any external hard drive for its functionality. The USB 3.2 Gen 1 port or the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port is recommended for the fastest data transfer with the external hard drive.
