This laptop does not have an independent graphics processor from Nvidia or ATI. It uses the integrated Intel 5500 graphics processor which should be more than adequate for most tasks including some low to mid-level games. If you're going to use the laptop for heavy duty graphics and/or high level games, you would be better off looking at a unit with an I7 CPU and a discrete graphics processor with at least 2 GB of RAM.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does not have problems as such. The graphics GPU is built into the CPU as is common for the current generation of both AMD and Intel CPUs. This is fine for the majority of people. If you are heavy into gaming/video editing then you will want an additional GPU card, does not matter if it is laptop or desktop. And no this laptop can not have a card added.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later."Discrete graphics" simply means a separate graphics card. This model uses Intel's integrated graphics. It works fine. Some users (heavy gamers, graphic designers, etc.) can get benefit from a discrete card, but the normal user (flash games, websites, MS Office, etc.) will not.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later."Discrete graphics" means that there is a separate chip that is responsible for processing the graphical information (stuff on the screen). "Shared" or "Integrated" graphics means that the main processor handles the graphics data, in addition to the rest of the I/O. Discrete graphics is important if you want to play some of the high-end video games. If you are just surfing the web, or playing games on occasion, then the discrete graphics card is really not a necessary item.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The ones you speak of were more expensive versions of this computer, They advertised a higher end graphics card, and some users said it wasnt installed. This version has basic Intel graphics that are built into the CPU. The built in graphics can not be left out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is not a problem. The design uses Intel's graphics that is built into the CPU instead of a seperate graphics GUP by Nvidia or AMD
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just posted a review but it's being reviewed. I bought one on Saturday, and it's going back. It's SLOW, very SLOW. The lack of discrete graphics means that graphics runs on shared memory with the rest of the system. A discrete graphics system has a GPU with its own memory. Now, I don't know if that's exactly the problem I had with it, but it's really slow and the fan runs on it non-stop. Buy something else. Mine is going back and being exchanged for something else.
