- Answer Nope. You will have to look at the Precision or Latitude business lines of laptops in order to find a serial port. Even with those it may be impossible.

- Answer WordPad is the only word processor software that comes on the laptop and that is because it is a Windows accessory. You can download LibreOffice for free and it is 100% Microsoft Office compatible.

QuestionWhat does s mode mean

- Answer Windows Security mode. When using this version of Windows you can only use software (apps) that have been "blessed" by MS. For example, you cannot load or use Mozilla Firefox or Norton Security. Fairly easy to switch to regular Microsoft Windows for Home, which allows you to use software from other vendors. But my understanding is you can only switch it once and you cannot go back to S-mode once you've switched it to regular Windows. I immediately switched mine from S-mode to regular mode.

- Answer Yes, but it doesn't have a built in CD drive. You will need to either get the download version or get an external CD drive to install Turbotax from a CD.

- Answer S mode will not allow you to download outside software/apps. For example, you cannot download Google Chrome when in S mode.

- Answer Where would you add it? If it is M.2, then you could clone the M.2 OS disk to a 2.5 disk, then boot off of the 2.5 disk, then install the M.2 graphics card. You can see the motherboard and layout in the photo.

- Answer 8GB DDR4 PC4-19200 2400MHz 260 pin SO-DIMM I prefer Kingston and Crucial (for upgrades) but any memory on sale and meeting specs will do as they are usually all supplied by the same ram manufactures and meet spec.

- Answer 16 gigabytes maximum as 1 additional 8GB module, like any of these: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=8GB+2400Mhz+DDR4+Non-ECC+CL17+SODIMM&i=electronics&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 I'd go with the Crucial or Timetec Hynix (Hynix makes ram for most other brands) as they are totally inline with the exact specs from Dell's own site: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-memory-upgrade-8gb-1rx8-ddr4-sodimm-2400mhz/apd/a9210967/memory

- Answer I am 99% certain that the answer is "Yes", and I bought the computer with this in mind. The Dell Inspiron 3583 Service Manual has instructions for adding an SSD (see motherboard photo from the manual), so I'm confident that it can be done. I haven't yet done it, though, so I am not 100% certain.
