It might be. Ask your school and also ask Best Buy just in case. When I was purchasing mine and I told them I needed it for school, they told me to ask and someone checked to see as well. If you google Dell school deals, sometimes it takes you to a link with laptops that may have a slightly different price and it'll ask you what school do you attend.
