QuestionDoes the CPU fan kick in often during normal utilization (i.e. browsing the web, viewing youtube, watching a movie) or is it pretty quiet? Does the fan run quite a bit or is it mostly off? Thank you very much.

- Answer I can say that you can hear fan noise on high loads but that is not annoying. It will be audible only if you are in very quiet room. On normal loads like watching videos,browsing and while running IDE's like eclipse it will be off. I can say that it is very good laptop in terms of performance,sound quality and quietness.

QuestionHow is the strength of the hinges holding the screen? I found some other 360 degree hinges to be rather weak, the screen would not hold well in certain positions, would move or drop under small pressure or movement. How are you finding this Dell? Thanks.

- Answer The hinges are solid. If anything they are a little stiff. Had mine for a month and the screen stays where you rotate it.

- Answer I am a Pilot so my hearing is a little shot but the laptop is quiet and the sound quality is very good. I think it uses the screen back to produce bass.

QuestionThe specs say that the keyboard is backlit but a user photo here shows no backlighting. Also in the store I could not see any backlighting. Does the keyboard light up or was this an error in the description?

- Answer This laptop has backlit keybord. It just goes off when keyboard is not used for a certain period of time.

- Answer There isn't one on the laptop, however, you could purchase a CD/DVD component for a very reasonable price. I looked into this after my purchase.

- Answer I have this exact model and people comment and do not know what they're talking about because there confusing their model for this one which is completely different I know they look similar but I will provide you a picture I have this exact model and I keep it at 50 or 75% brightness 100% brightness is a little bit too bright for my taste, it's very good display I have no problems Outdoors and I like that it's not reflective display
