• you could probably easily do 2x16GB which should be more than sufficient for almost any task!

• I did not ask that question when I purchased the computer. The installed RAM is 12 gig, with 11.7 useable. The answer to your question might be in the paperwork from Best Buy, which I can't seem to locate now. And I'm not a computer geek.
