• you will need a DDR3L type of memory and it will have to be the stock memory other wise you will have to remove the old memory

• This computer has only one DIMM slot so you'll need to buy an 8gb stcik then replace the 4gb stick with it. It is laptop RAM. Here's what this computer uses - 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz SDRAM SODIMM, CL11, 1.35V, Non-ECC Memory.

• There is a single memory module located on the motherboard. You can max this machine out using any compatible 1600MHz LV SODIMM (which stands for low voltage). You can purchase from bestbuy/dell/whomever the cost is from $72-99 as of January 2015.
