Thank you for the question. Yes, this is normal. On average, it can take about 45 minutes to an hour for the boiler to cool down completely; any time before that and the boiler will still be warm to the touch.

A:AnswerI leave the cup under the expresso drip because the excess steam does leak down into it slightly when heating up to steam milk. Then I just pour the slight amount of coffee it made into my cup when finished steaming the milk and before I add the froth to the cup. Not a big issue to me.
A:AnswerFor the espresso side, you load from the top. It measures 16" with the lid open. For the coffee maker side, the upper front facing silver part of the machine (fill reservoir and grind filter) swings open from the center. Doesn't really work well if you are looking to place this beneath cabinets.
