- Answer No the lid and base don't have separate controls. You can choose low, medium, or high for the griddle and the contact grill is controlled by temperature like a oven. The grill plates have grooves which allow the grease to drain into cups which come with grill. This unit cleans up very nicely and all grill plates can be washed in dishwasher.

- Answer No, it does not have an auto-shutoff timer. You will have to time it and turn off manually.

QuestionHow much pressure does the to lid have when closed on something. I want to cook hamburger patties but don't want to smoosh out all the juices. Ill also be using the flat plates to let it cook in it's own fat. Thanks

- Answer It smashed out the juices. Just flip them or else they will be dry. Goes for any meat. I just use it for sandwiches.
