QuestionWould this work with the Kliptsch 5.1 Reference home theatre speaker set, with a wireless subwoofer?

- Answer All of our AVRs will work with passive speakers connected. A sub needs to be hardwired to the AVR's Subwoofer Pre-out unless you're using a wireless transmitter module to send audio to the sub.

QuestionI have a whole home in-wall speaker system that I'm wondering if I can use with this? I had planned to use a speaker selector and I don't need to have it play simultaneously as the the main speakers but I don't know if that requires a 2 zone set up.

- Answer The S540BT is only a 5 channel receiver, so you may need to use an impedance matching speaker selector switch if more than 5 speakers will be used.

QuestionWould this work with the Klipsch Reference Theater Pack speakers? Their nominal impedance is 8 ohms and their power handling is 50 watts (200 watts peak) for the front and surround speakers and 75 watts (300 watts peak) for the center speaker.

- Answer It is not a powerful receiver. I would get one with more power. I did not want to purchase another Marantz receiver because I’ve had three very expensive units in their line go down. While the Marantz receivers are powerful, I had multiple power relay issues where they went bad Marantz is crap. This Denon is running 2 KEF50, 1 Klipsh Center channel, & 2 Boston acoustics surround sound. As I was tired of spending two to $3000 on receivers this one is barely handling the speakers. It’s a good unit it’s working well but certainly does not have a lot of power

- Answer No, the S540BT is a non network unit. Our S650H supports networking and HEOS.

QuestionIf I connect only two speakers, a left& right, will it still get the lower frequency sound? I plan to install this in a garage with a TV and two speakers mounted on the wall, no surround sound..

- Answer Yes you will get the sound a “normal” stereo (left and right channels) and that includes the full range of frequencies specified for those output channels. The additional range gained by a sub-woofer is beyond what “normal” speakers can handle, but it will sound perfectly “normal” as a stereo system (2 speakers).

- Answer In terms of Main Zone Fronts, Center and Surrounds, then yes. This AVR supports 5.1 only so you cannot use it for an Atmos or DTS:X application.

- Answer We have a 22 year old 5 speaker Bose set that is working very well with this receiver. We're using the usual red/black speaker wires to connect them with, in addition to an HDMI connection to the television.

  The Boston speakers should work with the unit. The unit has RCA analog connections that you can connect your turntable to as well as HDMI connections for your other devices.   Yes, a TV is required to set this unit up. However, you can press the back button on your remote to exit the setup assistant to begin using the receiver without doing a speaker calibration.

  Yes, these are the same unit just listed differently on Best Buy. Best Buy has chosen to use the wattage at a 4ohm rating as the listing description which is AVR-700w instead of the units model number AVR-S540BT. If you check the Best Buy page you will see the model of the unit next to the SKU number under the title listing.

QuestionHooked up correctly but my bose speakers only work when watching direct tv/xbox. However when watching netflix/youtube/fandango etc. only tv speakers will work. TV has optical and told needed for this. Salesman said this receiver has it. Was he wrong.

- Answer The receiver has two digital optical inputs and one RF digital one on the rear near the top under "Digital Audio In". The two at the top are labeled "optical". The connection is foolproof so either you have a bad optical cable or you have to enable the ARC return audio on your TV for that HDMI port.

- Answer The remote is not Bluetooth it is IR and needs line of sight. Blue tooth however does not the wall will cut down on the distance.
