• It's spring loaded so when closing it to latch it it'll plug right into place

• Yes it is spring loaded to allow for the connector to fit up without binding

• Yes it's supposed to be because the battery is built into a back door for the housing, so it has to light up at an angle when you close the door/battery I actually returned this before I learned that this was intentional in the design.
