For example, is it dangerous to my iPod for it to touch static when pulling apart fabric that's been rubbing for a while? (during walking, running, or working-out at the gym) Is it that there just happens to exist a convenient way to eliminate touch-static due to friction? Or is there a completely different purpose that I, an uninformed consumer, am unaware of? (directly linked to another specific product) Also, a picture of a human (or even just a mannequin) wearing it would be an improvement.”

Anti-static wristbands are, for all intents and purposes, made for people who are working on computers/sensitive electronics. You wear it, clip it to a grounding source (e.g. the computer case) and this is suppose to prevent you from accidentally frying your motherboard, or other computer components.

Please try again later.If you are just dealing with the daily use of your iPod or computer or any such similar product and using it normally you have no such need for this product, no matter how much static electricity you think you have created on the surface of your iPod. You only need this product if you are going to open up your iPod exposing it's inner working and electrical connections and work on it. This product is to protect the battery and circuit boards and CPU and internal drives in your iPod, computer, cell phone or any other delicate electrical product. If you have a sealed product and are using it normally this product will do nothing for you. It is NOT for removing static electricity from a sealed unit being used properly. So if you are using your iPod normally or your computer or cell phone or any such product normally, this is an item you do NOT need. this is only if you plan on opening up your item and working on it or attempting to repair it.

It can be very harmful. Especially to the most sensitive kinds of electronic circuitry. Their only made to handle so much current. Also heat is another great evil to electrical devices. Their only made to with stand so much. Then they melt. Excessive humidity caused corrosion on components as well. Then they don't transfer the proper amount of either data or power.

Please try again later.You purchase this for electronics that you have to touch parts that cant be shocked... example ( ram/cpu in computer ) they are very sensitive to static and brand new they can be corrupted before ever turning on.. worth it if you pay alot for a part you cant afford to fry.. hope that helps
