We have a Panasonic TV also that only has the optical out port for sound. I have a hearing issue, wanted to have wireless headphones, and was not sure if I would be able to accomplish this but I purchased what I believe is the same Dynex converter you did and mine works fine. The way to change to PCM is in your TV’s set up. Here is the line in your manual for setting it to PCM (NTSC). “When an ATSC channel is selected, the output from the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack will be Dolby Digital. When an NTSC channel is selected, the output will be PCM.” This is on page 38 of your TV’s owner manual. I will be glad to help more if have any further issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. On my LG tv, I had to go to my setting menu, then choose the sound directory, and then click on the PCM option.
