The converter does what it's supposed to do and allows me to channel the digital audio output of my TV through my older home stereo, which only has RCA input ports. The converter is at a great price, which also saved me $100's to $1K's, since I don't have to upgrade my TV and/or home stereo for compatibility of the two.
I'm not going to comment on the aesthetics of the converter because it's easily hidden out of site behind my TV, due to the converter's compact design.

This did the trick when my TV didn't have regular audio outs for wireless headset I was using. This product allowed me to take the audio signal from the optical output on the TV and send to analog to transmit through my Bluetooth headset. Now I can use all of my devices connected to the TV instead of just one at a time. Worked for my solution! Only negative is that it needs power. I wished it was just a simple adapter, but unfortunately needs to be powered.

I recently purchased a Dynex Optical Coaxial Digital to Analog Converter. The device allows me to use my headphones by way of an optical cable to the Dynex and two RCA plugs from the Dynex into the auxiliary ports on my receiver. Besides using the Dynex for my headphones, I can use my receiver speakers. Be sure to set your digital TV Sound to PCM. The Dynex is a needed solution to a vexing problem.

I had to buy this audio converter box because we have an older Bose 321 system. There's nothing wrong with the system but it's not meant to connect to the newer devices. Bought a new blu ray player and its sound wire was an optical connection. The 321 doesn't accommodate that. So I consulted with the experts and they said this is what I needed. I didn't believe it but I said what the heck, if it doesn't work I'll return it. It works fantastic! It doesn't compromise the sound at all. And the best part, I used reward certificates for it so I didn't pay anything out of pocket for it. Certainly not $1500 for a new Bose system!

I got this as a gift for my dad. I purchased him a LG LED TV that only has optical out (which is lame imo) so I got him this so that he can hook up some wireless headphones to watch tv when he doesn't want the tv volume on. So far it seems to be working fine. No problems to report as of yet.

Bought this adapter to use surround sound with my ps4. Read some bad reviews but have to say I've had nothing but good luck with it. Works like detailed.

I bought this converter to hook up my new Insignia receiver to my LG LED TV. The LG TV only has digital audio output so I used the converter to hook up to my receivers RCA input. It works great and the sound quality is excellent.
A:AnswerSome electronic devices like USB-connected devices are able to run using the power from the input cable. The input to this device is an optical cable rather than a electrically conductive cable. That input cable just brings quickly-blinking light into the device, no power. So, you need power from elsewhere. It could be batteries, or it could be a power cable. In this case, the device has a power cable.
A:AnswerWe have a Panasonic TV also that only has the optical out port for sound. I have a hearing issue, wanted to have wireless headphones, and was not sure if I would be able to accomplish this but I purchased what I believe is the same Dynex converter you did and mine works fine. The way to change to PCM is in your TV’s set up. Here is the line in your manual for setting it to PCM (NTSC). “When an ATSC channel is selected, the output from the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack will be Dolby Digital. When an NTSC
channel is selected, the output will be PCM.” This is on page 38 of your TV’s owner manual.
I will be glad to help more if have any further issues.
