We are unclear on what is meant by "Classic Mode", that is not a setting on eero. To get gigabit speeds wirelessly these Pro 6E should be able to give those speeds wirelessly, depending on if your device can go that fast of course. If "Classic" mode means putting the eero into bridge mode, that could, and likely will, reduce the wireless speeds capable on the 5 ghz bands. It should still be pretty good/fast though, just not likely to 1gbps speeds.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.In order to get gigabit speeds you will need a connection greater than 1Gbps. The next jump up is 2.5Gb ethernet (or 10Gb). Lots of routers, including this EERO, have a 2.5Gb input port on them. Your cable modem/router provided from your ISP will ALSO need an output port greater than 1Gbps to achieve your maximum speed. My ATT fiber router, despite selling me a 1Gbps service, did not so no matter what router I used, I was never going to get what I paid for. This is because there’s always overhead, line interference, etc so a 1Gbps line is actually at best probably a 950Mbps and depending on a myriad of factors probably closer to 850Mbps where a 2.5Gb line may max out at 2300-2400Mbps. Short answer is yes, in classic mode you will probably get 800Mbps or so via hardwired devices but EERO Wi-Fi is terrible so I wouldn’t expect more than 400Mbps on a good day. If you’re only buying one EERO, you’re much better off buying a $200-$300 Netgear/Asus/TP-Link router with a 2.5Gbe WAN port. If you’re only using Wi-Fi devices, that’s probably not even necessary.
