It doesn't support mechanical chimes, but I've heard that a few will still work for some reason. The reason is that you have to modify the wiring to send continuous power to the doorbell. For a battery operated one, the power coming from the battery is all it needs so it can let the power coming from the system trickle through to charge it without setting off the chime then let it get full power and activate the chime when the doorbell is pressed. Making it battery powered completely changes how they can run the system and if they can use the mechanical chime.

Or at least I've found no way for it to do so. It does, however, come with an electronic chime that connects wirelessly and plugs into any standard electrical outlet.
