  • QuestionWhat happens when the outdoor temperature drops below -4 ?

    Asked by Happy.

    • Answer When the outdoor temperature drops below -4°F (-20°C), the eufy SoloCam S220 may experience a reduction in performance. This is because extreme cold affects the lithium-ion battery inside the camera. Here is what happens: Temporary Malfunction: The camera may temporarily stop functioning in temperatures below its operational range. Lower Battery Efficiency: While the camera might still operate, the cold reduces the battery's chemical activity, leading to lower battery levels and shorter battery life. Automatic Recovery: Once the temperature rises back within the operational range (-4°F to 122°F / -20°C to 50°C), the camera will resume normal operation, and the battery performance will recover. Additionally, the Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor may function less sensitively under cold conditions. It is recommended to increase the motion detection sensitivity in colder weather for better performance.

  • QuestionWith the extreme weather conditions we experience in NE, how does the camera/solar charging handle 90+degrees in the summer to -20 below windchills in the winter? What about snow cover? Will it still charge? Being on a ladder in the winter is not ideal.

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The eufy SoloCam S220, designed for extreme outdoor conditions, operates within a temperature range of -4°F (-20°C) to 122°F (50°C) and has a waterproof IP67 rating. This ensures it can withstand heavy rain, snow, and dusty environments without issues. When it comes to charging during snow cover or adverse weather: The built-in solar panel requires direct sunlight to effectively recharge the camera. Extended periods of insufficient sunlight (e.g., during heavy snow cover) may reduce its charging efficiency. The camera's IP67 rating ensures it is protected against water and dust, so snow or adverse weather won't damage the camera itself. Keep in mind that clearing snow from the solar panel when safe will help maintain optimal charging performance. Regarding maintenance: Ensuring the solar panel is exposed and free from excessive snow or obstructions will help avoid needing to climb a ladder frequently, especially during winter.

  • QuestionIs recording 24/7? And offer playback anytime or just backup the thumbnail? Thank you.

    Asked by Noreadmycomment.

    • Answer The SoloCam S220 cannot record continuously 24/7. It only records when motion is detected due to being a battery-operated camera. Additionally, video recordings are saved to the camera's built-in 8GB eMMC local storage, which can hold up to 90 days of footage, assuming an average recording of 500 seconds per day. When storage becomes full, it will overwrite the oldest recordings with new ones. Playback is available on saved recordings, and you also have the option to connect SoloCam S220 to a eufy HomeBase 3 for additional video storage. However, the camera does not support cloud backup.

  • QuestionDoes the home base need to be plugged into the internet modern? Or does it work wireless?

    Asked by Molly.

    • Answer During the setup process, the HomeBase must be connected to the internet using an Ethernet cable. After completing the setup, you can switch the HomeBase to a Wi-Fi connection by navigating to HomeBase Settings > Connection > General > WiFi Connection. This gives you the flexibility to use either a wired or wireless connection after the initial setup.

  • QuestionDo these cameras have to be in direct sunlight to charge

    Asked by Kayc.

    • Answer The eufy SoloCam S220 features a built-in solar panel for recharging. To ensure sufficient charging under normal usage, the solar panel needs to be exposed to at least 2 hours of direct sunlight per day. Without direct sunlight, the charging performance will decrease, especially in cloudy or rainy conditions. However, even a sunny day with 1 to 2 hours of direct sunlight can quickly recharge the camera.

  • QuestionCan I add more camera's to the s220s

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The eufy S220 SoloCam is designed as a standalone, all-in-one camera and does not appear to support adding additional cameras directly to its setup. However, for expandable storage, it is compatible with eufy HomeBase 3, which allows additional features. If you are looking for a multi-camera setup, you may need to explore other eufy products that support additional cameras or systems designed for broader camera networks.

  • QuestionHow long will a battery life last, and can you charge it yourself

    Asked by Tommo274.

    • Answer The battery life of the eufy SoloCam S220 lasts up to 90 days under normal usage conditions. Additionally, the camera features an integrated solar panel, which can keep it charged if exposed to direct sunlight for at least two hours per day. This eliminates the need for manual recharging in such conditions. The camera uses a built-in 6,500mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which cannot be removed or replaced. The typical lifespan of a lithium-ion battery is estimated to be 300 to 500 charge cycles. If manual charging is needed, the time to recharge the camera depends on the charging adapter used: Using a 5V/2A adapter: Approximately 4 to 5 hours. Using a 5V/1A adapter: Approximately 8 to 10 hours.
