A:Answer Yes, you do need a neutral wire for this switch. There are other switches, notably the Castea switches that do not need a neutral wire, but these usually require some kind of hub. (The reason so many switches need the neutral wire is so that they can continue to operate and communicate with your home automation platform even when the power is off)
