“Can the switch cover be removed and the unit installed with a gang switch cover?”

• Yes I had to buy new gangs to support these switches with the regular light switch

• The switch itself is a rocker-style switch. So as long as the cover of your gang box allows for the wider and flatter rocker-style switch then you should have no problems. I myself have this device mixed in with two traditional toggle switches in the same gang box no problem. Found a gang box face plate online that allowed for the mixture of switch styles. (Although I plan on switching the other switches to rocker-style at a later date for consistency)
