Yes it will, if you wear it on your ankle. The circle motion your ankle will make should work. You may have to go into the app/online settings and increase the sensitivity, but it should work okay.

My mother in law wears hers on her ankle as she rides in several hundred mile rides and from what she can tell, it tracks about every other "step". Pretty much when the ankle you have it on is on the lower end of the pedal loop, it will count that, but not when the other foot does.

NOW, for the GPS. Yes, it will give you a basic steps based on what distance you go if you have it in GPS mode, but that WON'T be counted towards challenges or anything like that. Those will only be counted by physical steps the device registers.
