A:AnswerUnplug the unit for an hour to allow it to reset. Fill the water reservoir with cold potable water. Plug the unit back in and set it to make ice.
If the unit fails to make ice it may be defective.

A:AnswerThere is a float in the bottom of the reservoir and when the water collects and the float comes up to the “stop”, it switches off the machine and the LCD displays E with a flashing power button. The ice maker pours water over the ice collectors and until the water freezes it collects in the reservoir and is pumped back up to the ice collectors. If too much water gets in the reservoir the float will cut off the machine. You can use a small cup to remove water from the reservoir until the float moves down and restores power.
A:AnswerNo, using a water bottle and setting it at the top of the unit, like a small water cooler is not an option. The cover is where you pour water into the holding tank where the pump draws water from to make ice. I would recommend using filtered water so as to reduce the amount of deposits that may clog the tubing if you don't regularly clean the unit. There is a maximum fill line inside and adding too much water could damage the unit. Too little water in the tank will cause the unit to stop making ice cubes but shouldn't damage the unit as it will turn itself off. Once you add water again after getting the low water warning you would need to restart the unit.
A:AnswerThis is an option to add or subtract additional time to make the ice. If your ice is thin add up to 6 minutes +, if the ice is over freezing reduce the timer by up to 6 minutes - . I experimented with the time and found usiing colder water really helped.
A:AnswerHi, start with colder water. Let the first couple of batches of ice made fall into the water reservoir to chill the water. The resulting ice cubes will be larger and drier.
A:AnswerHello Drew, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Frigidaire 13.3" 40-lb Freestanding Ice Maker. We pride ourselves on our high quality standards and regret that our product did not live up to your expectations.
Unplug the unit and drain it. Clean the unit with a mixture of 10% white vinegar and water and plug the unit back in and fill with clear/cold potable water.
If the problem persists, your unit may require service.

A:AnswerHi Jayrad - this unit does not have a built in "self cleaning mode". (On ice makers with a self cleaning cycle the unit turns off the refrigeration unit and only circulates water).
Cleaning the unit is easy:
Take out the ice basket
Clean the interior with diluted mild detergent, warm water and a soft cloth
Use the water to rinse the inside parts and drain out the water from the draining port by unplugging the drain cap in the back.
Flush the unit with clean water (to remove the detergent residue)
Dry the interior with a soft cloth.
