“The manual says it needs almost 4 inches of clearance on top. Does that mean that I can't place a microwave or other items on top of it? Or is it ok as long as the area above the back of the refrigerator is clear?”

Hey, Blake! The model you selected does require the 4" clearance on top. We recommend not placing a microwave on top of the unit for proper circulation. ~Courtney
