• Yes, the door can be switched to open either side. We've had it since just before Thanksgiving and so far its performing as advertised. One caution though, as other reviewers have indicated, the rack system does not allow you to put bottles any larger diameter than the most common 750ml size. We found that if we are willing to give up three bottle slots for just one bottle, we can place a slightly larger bottle in between an upper and lower rack.
