• Shelves are removable. We've removed shelves to give us more room - of course, this will limit the amount of bottles you can fit into the unit. But, it allows for nice access to some of the bigger designed wine bottles.

• Yes they are. There are 5 wooden shelves which slide out and can be removed. The bottom has the small 2 shelf unit and that is removable too. I had to remove half of my shelves to stack odd shaped bottles to get them to fit.
