But if there are wine bottles on the shelf, it won't budge no matter how hard I pull. Is there a trick to pulling the shelves out? I'm seriously considering returning it.”

Turn the shelves over and they won't latch on the back of the side supports.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't think there is a trick to pulling out the shelves, it seems to be a poor design. The only way we can do it easily is trying to lift the shelf as far back as you can reach and slide it out at the same time.
