“Does the fan go off when the compressor is not running?”

Not when the unit is set in normal mode. In economy mode, the unit turns itself off when the room reaches the temperature, and then the fan turns on every 20 minutes or so to check if the room has warmed up enough to run continuously again. I use economy mode when I'm at work (and I turn up the temperature a few degrees because it doesn't make sense to keep things really cool when nobody's home), but if I'm sleeping the fan suddenly coming on will wake me up. I imagine a normal person would sleep through it just fine, but I'm a light sleeper.
