Hold down "-" and "set" at the same time for a few seconds. That toggles fridge/freezer modes.

Left or right hand handle capability? Also, 29" depth includes handle or not?   (3 Answers)

        Answer

The manual I have shows that the door can be switched to open either way... but it looks really complicated, they have the unit lying completely flat on the ground, on it's back, to do the change over. This thing is deeper than 29", we just barely made it through my front door (I had to take the house door off it's hinges). The delivery guys were great and waited patiently while I took care of things. The fridge/freezer door does not come off easily (see above), and there is a freon line that comes up the front, so even if the fridge door was removed you would not gain much room. I just measured my unit and it is 30 and 1/4 inches front to back not counting the handle. The handle adds maybe 2 more inches.

Hello FiremanSam! The refrigerator/freezer FGVU21F8QF does have a bottom bin and it is a crisper bin. However, the bin is not humidity controlled. We do not offer a different accessory for to make this feature available. We hope this information is helpful to you. –Thanks!-

Hey Maria! The convertible upright freezer/refrigerator (FGVU21F8QF) will operate properly when it is stored in a location where the surrounding temperature will not exceed 110°F. Temperatures below 32°F will not affect the operation. We hope this information is helpful to your shopping experience. –Thanks!-

Do I need extra parts?   (1 Answer)

I plan on using this as a refrigerator. What does it mean that there is no drain included? Do I need to purchase a drain separately? Also, what type of plug is it? Three prong?

          Answer

Hello Frigidaire Shopper! You would not need to purchase an external drain for the convertible refrigerator, FGVU21F8QF. The refrigerator has a drain hose and pan located under it for any access water. The power cord for the appliance will be a three prong outlet. Do not hesitate to contact us directly or via the Q&A forum on this website. We hope that this information is helpful to you. –Thanks!-

Hello Ro, thank you for your question! The convertible refrigerator/freezer FGVU21F8QF does not provide a detailed decibel level during operation. The appliance will produce normal sounds from the compressor, motor, or refrigerant as it passes through the system. Hopefully this information is helpful to you. –Thanks!-

        • Question
Does this unit need extra clearance when you open the door? I'm not sure of the proper terminology, zero clearance maybe? It's when the door stays flush with the side of the fridge so you can have it right up against a wall.   (1 Answer)

            Answer

Hello Matt! We advise that when you install the refrigerator/freezer FGVU21F8QF adjacent to a wall, cabinet, or other appliance that extends beyond front edge of the appliance there needs to be a 20" minimum clearance. This is to have a door swing of 140°. With a minimum space of three inches this will allow you to have a 90° door swing and limited basket access with restricted removal. We hope this information is helpful. –Thanks!-

        • Question
After a power failure, does the unit stay in the same mode (freezer or refrigerator) or does it change? One reviewer claims that it automatically switches to refrigerator mode after a power outage, resulting in thawing of frozen food!   (1 Answer)

            Answer

We use our as a refrigerator. So I can't answer this definitevely. But in my experience it stays in the mode it was set to after a power outage. It came defaulted to freezer mode, so I can't imagine it would change itself to refrigerator after an outage.
