I would consider it both.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Because technically, it can be both. I did a lot of searching before picking this one, and basically it seems that if the controls are at the back, it's called a free-standing. If the controls are at the front, it's a slide-in. Just about all slide-in units could be used as free-standing and vice-versa. Neither has flanges to go over the adjacent counter. This stove has very flush sides, however, and the countertop installers were able to keep the gap on each side to about 1/32" or less. A "drop-in" is quite different. It cannot be used except installed in cabinetry/countertop. There is usually no storage/warming drawer. Our old one that was removed was a drop-in, and it was entirely supported by the top flanges resting on the countertops on each side (pretty sure it was supposed to also be screwed into the cabinet walls on each side, but hey, most builders are cheap).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Don't be misled by the photo. Under the description of a free standing range, the photo is of a slide in range. Almost all free standing range have controls on a backsplash. Slide in ranges (more expensive) and what is pictured have controls on the front of the range. Very misleading of Frigidaire to provide sellers of their products an inaccurate photo.
