• This can lay flat (on the big rectangular side. or sit on the long side. The shortest side is a bit rounded and not too stable.

• This hard drive lays flat better than on its side but it can be on its side if needed. It would fall over if bumped but it has a nice shock proof container around the hard drive to protect it so I would not worry about it is it was knocked over.
