I don’t know what track back is, but if you lose it, there’s a “find my iphone” type feature. Yes you can create your own routes, and although I haven’t tried it for kayaking yet, it would definitely work. That’s a good idea. The bigger screen is great, I upgraded from the 830 to get that.
