• No. The watch does not require a chest strap. It tracks your heart rate using a light on the underside of the watch.

• No, it has a built in Heart Rate Monitor but you may purchase a chest strap if you are interested in some additional data.

• The Forerunner 235 has a built-in optical sensor to provide heart rate data. The watch has the option to pair with an extral strap, but one would not be required in order to get heart rate data.
