Does this model give altitude? null

The nüvi 2798LMT is an automotive GPS unit. Since it's not designed for in air navigation, it does not report altitude. However, all Garmin automotive devices allow you to view your current location's elevation. * Note that elevation on automotive devices is based solely on map data and may not be 100% accurate, depending on satellite signal strength and available map data.
