Garmin has a "Compare" option on their website. Best Buy doesn't allow people to share company websites so google "Garmin compare GPS" and it should take you to the page.

The 785 has a built-in dashcam while the 1090 does not. The dashcam enables the 785 to also provide forward collision and lane departure warnings. It isn't as sophisticated as vehicle integrated warning systems, but can be useful. The warnings can become annoying depending on how you're driving, the visibility of lane markings, sensitivity settings, and camera alignment. The 785 also has a traffic receiver in the power cord where the 1090 doesn't. The ubiquity of reliable cell phone connections and cell service has eclipsed the limited range and areas of the traffic cable. Lastly, the 785 has been discontinued.
