Great question. The watch itself doesn’t require Wi-Fi connection. As long as you connected your iPhone with Bluetooth - you’re gucci! Whatever happens on your iPhone, comes directly to your watch. Even if you are in the desert. But, don’t forget about Bluetooth range. If you left your watch at home, and you go running. You will not receive any notifications, until you will get back to your phone range.
